Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World

Congratulations Southern Ocean Lodge - the only Australian property to make the list of the world's top 100 hotels and resorts in Conde Nast Traveler's readers' choice awards for 2015.

The respected luxury travel publication announced the list voted by more than 128,000 travellers who submitted millions of ratings and tens of thousands of comments to determine the list.

Not only did Condé Nast Traveler Reader's vote Southern Ocean Lodge among the Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World in the 2015 Awards, but also #3 in Australia & the South Pacific.

Conde Nast praised the lodge's spectacular location and singled out the food as one of its best experiences.

Southern Ocean Lodge also recently made Traveller's own list of Australia's best hotels and resorts, with contributor Ute Junker writing: "What sets Southern Ocean Lodge apart is the way an afternoon spent doing nothing is turned into a memorable experience. APPELLATION AT THE LOUISE ONCE AGAIN TOP RATED SOUTH AUSTRALIA RESTAURANT
Three major awards received in the past three weeks
Barossa Valley, 23rd August 2013 - Appellation restaurant, based at The Louise luxury vineyard
retreat, has been honoured with top marks in the recently released 2014 Australian Restaurant
Guide by Australian Gourmet Traveller Magazine. Published for more than a decade, the Guide is
Australia’s most authoritative and well-respected source for information about restaurants across
the nation.
For 2014, Appellation is rated two-stars and three goblets and achieved the numerically highest
position of any South Australia restaurant out of their ranking of the top 100 restaurants in Australia.
There were only nine restaurants in the country earning higher marks (three-stars) and Appellation
was the only SA restaurant earning the two-star award, which the Guide declares: “Two-stars make
an establishment a superior dining experience in all respects, worthy of a detour.”
This is the seventh year that Appellation has rated among the top 50 restaurants in Australia and
makes Appellation the most consistently awarded restaurant in South Australia. “We are naturally
pleased to achieve this recognition,” notes Ryan Edwards, executive chef of Appellation since
taking over from Mark McNamara just over a year ago. “The kitchen team here is incredibly focused
on fresh locally-sourced supplies and implementing innovations that are showing through to guests.”
Earlier this month, Appellation was named for the sixth year in a row as the restaurant with the Best
Wine List in South Australia at the Wine List of the Year Awards sponsored by Gourmet Traveller
WINE magazine and Fine Wine Partners. Appellation was one of only a handful of ‘three goblet’ top
tier winners from over 300 restaurants across Australia in this year’s awards,
Additionally, Wine Spectator magazine, published in the USA, has just announced the 2013 issue of
The World’s Best Wine Lists. For the third time, Appellation’s wine list was accorded a Wine
Spectator Award of Excellence in this prestigious selection and is the only South Australia
restaurant to achieve this recognition.
